I am Alicia Mills, a Registered Marriage and Family Therapist Intern working under the supervision of Patricia L. Shaw, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. I earned a Masters degree in Counseling Psychology from National University, and a Bachelors degree from Simpson University. I have been trained in Applied Suicide Intervention. I have a background in education and art and have recently completed continuing education in how to use art in the healing process. For the past 16 years I have worked with children in local schools and more recently moved into counseling children, couples, and individuals.
Along the path of life we often encounter changes, relationships, and challenges that are overwhelming. The process of therapy can be key to overcoming such challenges. I adhere to the Cognitive Behavioral Therapy approach that focuses on the relationship of ones thinking, feeling, and behavior. I am a creative, open minded, and positive person. I strive to provide a safe and non-judgmental counseling environment for growth and healing of each individual.
